Rome/Hegemonikon/Tristol Music Group/2022 Full Length Review

 

  Luxemborg's  solo  project  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going for  a  mixture  of  dark  folk,  industrial,  martial,  post  punk,  new  wave  and  electronica  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2022  album  "Hegemonikon"  which  will  be  released  in  November  by  Tristol  Music  Group.

  Dark  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  synths  a  few  seconds  later  before  adding  some  clear  neo-folk  style  vocals  onto  the  recording.  Martial  style  drum b eats  are  also  a  very  huge  part  of  the  recording  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  stringed  instruments  and  spoken  word  parts  can  also b e  heard  at  times.

  The  songs  also  mix  in  a decent  mixture  of  post  punk,  new  wave  and  electronica  elements  while  acoustic  guitars  are  also  added  on  a  great  portion  of  the  tracks.  Touches  of  post  industrial  can  also  be  heard  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  long  with  a  later  song  also  introducing  spoken  word  parts  onto  the  album  and  everything  song  also  sticks  to  a  slower  musical  direction.

  On  this  recording  Rome  takes  dark  folk,  post  industrial,  martial,  post  punk,  new  wave  and  electronica  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  very  diverse  sounding  recording.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  matters  of  the  European  soul  in  an  ever-charging  modern  world  with  some  poetic  and  philosophical  views.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Rome  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  dark  folk,  industrial,  martial,  post  punk,  new  wave  and  electronica,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "A  Slaughter  Of  Crows"  "Surely  Ash"  "Solar  Caesar"  and  "New  Flags".  8  out  of  10.

Rome/Parlez-Vous Hate?/Trisol Music Group/2021 CD Review

 

  Luxembourg's  solo  project  Rome  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  him  expanding  on   his  mixture  of  neo-folk,  industrial  and  martial  from  his  previous  release  with  elements  of  punk  and  European  pop  music  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2021  album  "Parlez-Vous  Hate?"  which  was  released  by  Trisol  Music  Group.

  Choirs  and  clean  vocals  start  off  the  album  before  adding  in  some  acoustic  guitars  which  also brings  in  elements  of  neo-folk,.  Electric  guitars  can  also  be  heard  at  times  while  the  music  also  shows  an  influence  of  punk  rock  at  times  and  all  of  the  musical  instruments  on  the  recording  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

  Industrial  style  beats  can  also  be  heard  in  some  parts  of  the  recording  while  the  guitars  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody.  Some  of  the  tracks  also  show  an  influence  of  pop  music  along  with  some  keyboards  also  being  added  into  certain  sections  of  the  album  and  some  tracks  also  add  in  martial  style  beats.

  Most  of  the  tracks  also  sounds  very  different  from  each  other  along  with  most  of  the  drum beats  also  being  programmed  as  well  as  one  of  the  tracks  also  introducing  whispered  vocals  onto  the  recording,  some  songs  also  add  in  spoken  word  parts  and  slide  guitars.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  World  War  II  and  Totalitarian  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Rome  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  neo-folk,  martial  and  industrial,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Parlez-Vous  Hate"  "Death  From  Above"  "You  Owe  me  A  Whole  World"  and  "Alesia".  8  out  of  10.

  

  

Rome/The Lone Furrow/Trisol Music Group/2020 CD Review

 

  Rome  are  a  solo  project  from  Luxemburg  that  plays  a  mixture  of  neo  folk,  martial  and  industrial  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2020  album  "The  Lone  Furrow"  which  was  released  by  Trsol  Music  Group.

  Synths  are  dark  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  narrative  orientated  spoken  word  parts  a  few  seconds  later.  Nature  sounds  can  also  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  while  the  drum  beats  also  give  the  songs  more  of  a  martial  feeling  and  acoustic  guitars  are  also  a  very  huge  part  of  the  recording.

  Folk  instruments  are  also  utilized  quite  a  bit  throughout  the  recording  while  the  clean  vocals  also  give  the  music  more  of  a  medieval  atmosphere.  When  grim  whispers  are  utilized  they  also  add  in  a  touch  of  black  metal  along  with  one  of  the  tracks  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  whistled  vocals.

  Electric  guitars  can  also  be  heard  briefly  along  with  the  songs  also  bringing  in  a  great  amount  of  diversity.  Elements  of  post  industrial  can  also  be  heard  in  some  parts  of  the  recording  as  well  as  one  of  the  tracks  also  adding  in  a  small  amount  of  operatic  vocals.,  throughout the  album  you  can  also  hear  some  session  work  form  the  members  of  Primordial,  Pallbearer,  Behemoth,  Harakiri  For  the  Sky  and  Riciin.

  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  paganism,  occultism,  European  history,  philosophy  and  poetry  with  some  inspirations  from  the  writings  of  Hesse,  Nietzsche,  Tacitus,  Orwell,  Ovid,  Yeats,  Baudelaire  and  The  Norse  Eddas  as  well  as  bringing  in  a  critique  of  the  modern  world.

  In  my  opinion  Rome  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  neo  folk,  martial and  industrial  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  solo  project.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Masters  Of  The  Earth"  "The  Angry  Cup"  "Kali  Yuga  Uber  Alles"  and  "Obsidian".  8/5  out  of  10.
