II Vuoto/Vastness/Hypnotic Dirge Records/2019 Full Length Review

  Italy's  II  Vuoto  has  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  continues  the  atmospheric  style  of  funeral  doom  metal  from  his  previous  releases  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2019  album  "Vastness"  which  was  released  by  Hypnotic  Dirge  Records.

  A  very  distorted  sound  starts  off  the  album  before  adding  some  clean  playing  onto  the  recording  along  with  most  of  the  tracks  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  synths  are  also  added  into  some  parts  of  the  music.

  When  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  done  in  a  very  melodic  style  while  the  slow  and  heavy  riffs  are  done  in  more  of  a  funeral  doom  metal  direction.  Vocals  are  mostly  deep  death  metal  growls  along  with  some  clean  vocals  and  whispers also  being  utilized  at  times  as  well  as  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody.

  When  screams  are  utilized  they  bring  elements  of  black  metal  onto  the  recording  as  well  as  one  song  also  introducing  acoustic  guitars  onto  the  album  along  with  some  spoken  word  parts  also  being  used  briefly  and  all  of  the  music  sticks  to  a  slower  direction,  the  album  closes  with  an  instrumental  track.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  sorrow  and  distress  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  II  Vuoto  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric  funeral  doom  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Vastness"  and  "V  (The  Fifth  Nail)'.  8  out  of  10.

II Vuoto/Weakness/2015 Full Length Review

  II  Vuoto  are  a  solo  project  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  an  atmospheric  form  of  funeral  doom  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2015  "Weakness".

  Nature  sounds  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  keyboards  a  few  seconds  later  and  they  use  a  variety  of  many  different  keys  and  after  a  couple  of minutes  heavy  riffs,  melodic  leads  and   death  metal  growls  are  added  into  the  music  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  mixture  of  both  clean  and  heavy  parts.

  A  good  portion  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  there  are  also  a  small  amount  of  spoken  word  parts  and  clean  singing  and  the  songs also  stick  to  a  very  slow  style of  funeral  doom  and  acoustic  guitars  can  be  heard at  times  and  the  music  also  brings  in  elements  of  black  metal  at  times  and  they  also  bring  in  a  brief  instrumental  along  with  a  small  amount  of  violons  and  some  songs  bring  in  some  symphonic  parts.

  Ill  Vuoto  continues  the atmospheric  style  of  funeral  doom  metal  while  also  being  more  melodic  and  symphonic  this  time  around  around,  the  production  sounds  very  powerful  for  being  a  self  released  recording  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  depressive  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  from  Ill  Vuoto  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric  funeral  doom  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "And  Night  Devours  Me"  "Sea  Of  Emptiness"  and  "I,  Essence  Of  Nothingness".  8 out  of  10.

II Vuoto/Sea Of Emptiness/2015 Demo Review

  II  Vuoto  are  a  solo  project  from  Italy  that  plays  a  very  atmospheric  form  of  funeral  doom  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  released  2015  demo   'Sea  Of  Emptiness".

  An  almost  silent  sound  starts  off  the  demo  before  going  into  more  of  a  heavy  and  melodic  doom  metal  direction  that  also  sees  solos  and  leads  being  added  into  the  music  and  after  a  couple  of  minutes  death  metal  growls  make  their  presence  known  on  the  recording  and  after  awhile  clean  playing  can  be  heard  in  certain  sections  of  the  recoridng.

  Most  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  there  is  also  a  brief  piano  and  violin  instrumental  which  also  makes  the  demo  sound  more  atmospheric  before  the  music  returns  back  to  a  heavier  direction  on  the  last  track  and  the  whole  recording  sticks  to  a  very  slow  musical  direction.

  II  Vuoto  plays  a  style  of  funeral  doom  metal  that  is  very  heavy,  melodic  and  depressive,  the  production  sounds  very  powerful  for  being  a  self  released  recording  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  depressive  themes.


  In  my  opinion  II  Vuoto  are  a  very  great  sounding  funeral  doom  metal  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  demo.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Sea  of  Emptiness".  8  out  of  10.
