This Mortal Night/Earth Is Evil/Katabaz Records/2013 Full Length Review

  This  is  the  final  review  of  a  recording  from  This  Mortal  Night  which  continues  his  dark  ambient  sound  with  the  album  being  released  in  2013  and  called  "Earth  Is  Evil".

  The  album  starts  out  with  some  tragic  sounding  synths  and  you  can  also  hear  background  noises  at  times  and  the  music  utilizes  a  variety  of  many  different  keys  to  enhance  the  different  moods  which  are  displayed  on  this  recording  and  there  is  also  a  small  amount  of  drones  being  utilized  at  times  which  also  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  programmed  beats  and  black  metal  influences.

  Song  themes  cover  dark,  depressive  and  metaphysical  themes,  while  the production  has  a  very  dark  sound  to  it.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding album  from  This  Mortal  Night  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  dark  ambient,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Dark  Reptiles"  "Open  Death"  and  "Only  Angels  Die".  8  out  of  10.

This Mortal Night/Winterlife/Katabaz Records/2013 Full Length Review

  This  is  a  review  of  another  recording  from  This  Mortal  Night  which  continues  his  mixture  of  dark  ambient  and  dungeon  with  the  album  being  released  by  Katabaz  Records  during  the  year  of  2013  and  called  "Winterlife".

  The  album  starts  out  with  some  very  dark  sounds  and  synths  and  when  it  goes  into  the  second song  it  starts  sounding  more  tragic  and  melancholic  as  well  as  bringing  in  dungeon  synth  elements  and  a  small  amount  of  atmospheric  black  metal  influences  and  each  song  has  its  own  sound  to  it  and  this  album  is  a  lot  more  darker  sounding  than  the  previous  one  that  was  reviewed.

  Song  themes  cover  darkness,  desolation  and  nature,  while  the  production  has  a  very  dark  sound  with  synths  being  the  only  musical  instrument  that  is  present  on  this  recording.

  In  my  opinion  this  is another  great  sounding  recording  from  This  Mortal  Night  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  dark  ambient  and  dungeon  synth,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Night  Flakes"  "Winterlife"  and  "A  Vital  Breath".  8  out  of  10.

This Mortal Night/Self Titled/Katabaz Records/2012 Full Length Review

  This  Mortal  Night  are  a  1  man  band  that  plays  a  mixture  of  dark  ambient  and  dungeon  synth  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  self  titled  2012  album  which  was  released  by  Katabaz  Records.

  The  album  starts  out  with  nature  sounds  before  ambient  style  synths  are  added  into  the  music  and  they  bring  a  very  tragic  sound  to  the  recording  and  as the  music  progresses  you  can  hear  elements  of  new  age  and  experimental  being  added  into  the  music  along  with  a  variety  of  many  different  sounding  keys  along  with  traces  of  dungeon  synth  being  added  in  and  the  album  changes  sounds  with  each  song  while  also  bringing  in  a  great  amount  of  atmosphere.

  Song  themes  cover  darkness  and  nature,  while  the  production  has  a  very  dark  sound  with  the  synths  being  the  only  musical  instrument  that  are  present  on  this  recording.

  In  my  opinion  This  Mortal  Night  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  dark  ambient  and  dungeon  synth  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  project.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Moan  of  the  Winter  Land"  "Echoes  Of  Long  Ago"  and  "A  Dark  Sinister".  8  out  of  10.
