Veraopop are a duo from Portugal that has been featured before in this zine and plays a mixture of ambient, drone, noise and krautrock and this is a review of their 2015 album "Nouveau Shamanic" which was released by An Out Recordings.
A very dark field recording starts off the album along with some ambient style synths and drums that also bring in a touch of free form jazz and the music also adds in a touch of 70's psychedelia along with most of the tracks being very long and epic in length and the music also gets very experimental and avant garde at times.
All 3 of the tracks are mostly instrumental while there is also a brief use of voices and drones can also be heard in some parts of the songs and after awhile the music starts adding in elements of kratrock and all of the songs sound very different from each other and the noises give the music more of an underground feeling.
Veraopop creates another recording that keeps the ambient, drone and noise elements of previous recordings while also mixing in more psychedelic, krautrock, free form jazz, experimental and avant garde elements to create a very original sounding recording that is also all instrumental and the production sounds very dark.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Veraopop and if you are a fan of ambient, noise and drone, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Nouveau Shamanic". 8 out of 10.
