Hulduefni/Portugal Immersed In Time/2015 CD Review

  This  is  the  final  review  of  a  recording  from  Hulduefni  for  the  time  being  with  the  musical  style  being  in  more  of  an  experimental,  drone  and  dark  ambient  direction  and  the  album  was  self  released  in  2015  and  called  "Portugal  Immersed  In  Time".

  Dark  ambient  style  synths  start  off  the  album  and  also  utilize  a  variety of  many  different  sounding  keys  and  you  can  also  hear violins  in  the  background  at  times  which  also  get  more  powerful  after  awhile  and  a  great  portion  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  the  music  being  all  instrumental.

     At  times  the  music  can  be  very  avant  garde  and  experimental  sounding  and  other  folk  instruments  are  added  into  the  music  at  times  and  you  can  also  hear  some  elements  of  classical music  on  some  of  the  tracks  and  all  3  of  the  songs  sound  very  different  from  each  other  and  you  can  also  hear  nature  sounds  at  times  along  with  a  brief  use  of  guitar  riffs  and  leads  which  brings  in  influence  of  metal  when  it  is  utilized  as  well  as  some  psychedelic  traces  and  saxophones  are  utilized  on  the  last track.

  Hulduefni  creates  a  recording  that  takes  space  music,  dark  ambient,  experimental,  and  drone  and  mixes  it  in  with some  psychedelic,  avant  garde  and  metal  elements  to  create  a  very  original  sounding  album,  and  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Hulduefni  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  experimental,  dark  ambient  and  drone,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "A  Aparicao  (Do  Extraterrestre)  De  Fatima)".  8  out  of  10.

Hulduefni/Space Odyssey/Dark Matter Records/2014 Compilation Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  compilation  album  from  Portugal's  Hulduefni  which  shows  the  music  going  into  a  space  ambient  direction  and  the  album  is  called  "Space  Odyssey"  which was  released  by  Dark  Matter  Records.

  A  very  atmospheric  ambient  sound  starts  off  the  compilation  along  with  some  programmed  drum  beats  and  the  music  also  has  a  very  space  orientated  atmosphere  to  it  and  the  music  can  also  be  very  avart  garde  and  experimental  at  times  while  also  always  being  instrumental  and  all  of  the  tracks  sound  very  different  from  each  other.

  Some  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  the  drones  also  get  very  distorted  at  times  and  as  the  compilation  progresses  field  recordings  can  also  be  heard  in  the  music  at  times and   the  synths  have  a  very  dominant  presence  on  most  of  the  songs  while t here  is  a  brief  use  of  guitar  sounds  and  some  tracks  also  bring  in  a  ritualistic feeling.

  Hulduefni  brings  in  a  lot  of  diversity  throughout  the  compilation  bringing  in  a  lot  of  songs  that  are  in  more  of  a  dark  or  spaced  ambient  recording  which  also  gets  mixed  in  with  a great  amount of  drones  while  some  songs  show  more  of  an  avant  garde  and  experimental  style  while  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and raw.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Hulduefni  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  spece  ambient  or  drone,  you  should  check  out  this  compilation.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Intergalatic  Space"  "Machines,  Space  Machines"  and  "Nightmare".  8  out  of  10.

Hulduefni/HD 283271/Exogenesis/Dark Matter Records/2014 Split CD Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Portugal's  Hulduefni  and  Hungary's  HD  283271  called  "Exogenesis"  which  was  released  by Dark  Matter  Records  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Hulduefni  who  plays  a  mixture  of  dark  ambient  and  drone  on  this  recording.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  ambient  soundscapes  and  after  awhile  his  song  starts  adding  in  atmospheric,  experimental  and  avant  garde  elements  while  also  being  all  instrumental  and  after  awhile  the  music  gets  more  diverse  and  dark  sounding  while  also  bringing  in  a  very  space  orientated  atmosphere  and  his  song  is  30  minutes  in  length  and  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw.

  Next  up  is  HD283271  a  solo  project  that  plays  a  mixture  of  space  ambient  and  drone.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  dark  and  distorted  sounding  drones  that  can  also  be  very  harsh  at  times  while  also  bringing  in  soundscapes  and  after  the  music  gets  more diverse  by  adding  in  experimental,  ambient  and  space  music  elements  and  both  of  the  tracks  are  instrumental  and  both of  his songs  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length while also  sounding  very  different  from  each  other  and  the  production  also  sounds  very  dark  and raw.

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  dark  ambient,  drone  and  space  music.  8  out  of  10.

Hulduefni/Struggling Beacons,Fading Headlights/Dark City Nights/Dark Matter Records/2014 Split CD Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Portugal's  Hulduefni  and  Austria's  Struggling Beacons, Fading  Headlights  called  "Dark  City  Lights"  which  was  released  by  Dark  matter  Records  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Hulduefni  who  plays  a  mixture  of  dark  ambient  and  drone  on this  recording.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  a  few  seconds  of  silence  before  adding  in  telephone  sounds  and  noises  which  they  also  mix  in  wit  psychedelic  elements  and  after  awhile  harsh  drones  are  added  onto  the  recording  along  with  some  experimental  and  ambient  traces  and  clean  yet  primitive  guitars  can  also  be  heard  in  the  music  at  times  and  some  of  the  tracks  are  long  and  epic  in  length  and  as  his  side  of  the  recording  progresses  field  recordings  along  with  traffic  noise  can  be  heard  in  the  music  at  times  while  all  of  his  songs  are  instrumental  and  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Hulduefni  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  filed  recordings,  dark  ambient  and  drone,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of t he  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Phone  Stress"  and  "Noise  From  The  City".

  Next  up  is  Struggling  Beacons,  Fading  Headlights  a  solo  project  that  plays  a  depressive  mixture  of  dark  ambient  and  drone.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  drone  soundscapes  while  also  being  very  experimental  at  the  same  time  and  a  few  seconds  later  dark  ambient  synths  are  added  onto  the  recording  and  they  give  the  music  more  of  an  atmospheric  feeling  and  harsh  electronic  sounds  and  noises  can  also  be  heard  on  the recording  at  times  while  all  of  the  songs  are  instrumental  and  the  songs  also  bring  in  a  great  amount  of  diversity  while  one  of  the  tracks  is  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  the  production  sounds  very  dark,  raw  and  lo-fi.

  In  my  opinion  Struggling  Beacons,  Fading  Headlights  are  a  very  great  sounding  depressive  mixture  of  dark  ambient  and  drone   and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out this  solo  project.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE "Drowning"  and  "Frost  Bites''.

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to all  fans  of  dark  ambient  and  drone.  8  out  of  10.

Hulduefni/Zalys/Crossing The Asteroid Field/Dark Matter Records/2014 CD Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Portugal's  Hulduefni  and  France's  Zalys  called  "Crossing  The  Asteroid  Field"  which  was  released  in  2014  by  Dark  Matter  Records  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Hulduefni  who  plays  more  of  a  space  ambient  style  on  the  recording.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  atmospheric  drones  and  dark  ambient  soundscapes   and  the  song  is  also  all  instrumental  and  the  synths  also  use  a  variety  of  many  different  sounding  keys  and  as  the  track  progresses  the  music  starts  getting  more  diverse  and  the  song is  also  over  30  minutes  in  length  and  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw.

  Her  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  dark  ambient  synths  and  avant  garde  soundscpaes  while  also  being  very  experimental  at  times  and  also  bringing  in  a  great  amount  of  drones  and  after  awhile  the  music  starts  getting  more diverse  and  most  of  her  songs  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  while  also  being  all  instrumental along  with  some  elements  of  industrial  while  also  being  very  diverse  and  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw.

  In my  opinion  Zalys  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  dark  ambient  and  industrial  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  solo project.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Echoes  Of  A  Vanished  World".

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  dark  ambient.  8  out  of  10.

Hulduefni/Dom/Journeys To The Mind/Dark Matter Records/2014 CD Review

  This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Portugal's  Hulduenfi  and  Spain's  Dom  called  "Journeys  Of  The  Mind"  which  was  released  in  2014 by  Dark  Matter  Records  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Hulduefni  who goes  for  more  of  a  dark  ambient,  experimental  and  drone  style  on  this  recording.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  nature  sounds  along  with  some  field  recordings  a  few  seconds  later  and  after  the  intro  distorted  drones  and  dark  ambient  soundscapes are  added  onto  the  recording  along  with  some  heavy  guitar  riffing  that  is  more  close  to  a  primitive  style  of  doom  metal  while  also  bringing  in  melodic  leads.

   After  awhile  clean  playing  and  programmed  beats  are  added  onto  the  recording  and  all  of  the  songs  also  sound  different  from  each  other  while  also  being  mostly  instrumental  while  the  ambient  sound  also  takes  over  more  as  his  side  of  the  album  progresses  and  a  couple  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  the  music  getting  more  experimental  and  one  song  also  brings  in  black  metal  screams.

  In  my  opinion  this  another  great  sounding  recording  from Hulduefni  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black,  doom  metal,  dark  ambient,  drone  and  experimental,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "A  Journey  Through  My  Sick  Mind"  and "Alien-The  Beginning".

  Next  up  is  Dom  a  solo  project  that  plays  a  mixture  of  dark  ambient  and  funeral  doom  metal.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  drums  along  with  some  bass  guitars  a few seconds  later  before  adding  in  heavy  guitars  and  ambient  style  synths  which  also  takes  the  music  into  more  of  a  funeral  doom  metal  direction  and  most  of his  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  after  awhile  the  music  starts  incorporating  more  melody  and  all  of  his  songs  are  instrumental  and  also  stick  to  a  very  slow musical  direction  and  the  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw.

  In my  opinion  Dom  are  a very  great  sounding  instrumental  mixture  of  dark  ambient  and  funeral  doom  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  solo  project.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "A  Modern  Prometheus".

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  funeral  doom  metal  and  dark  ambient.  8  out  of  10.

 This  is  a  review  of  a  split  album  between  Portugal's  Hulduefni  and  Switzerland's  Ataraxy  which  was  released  in  2013  and  called  "Inside  Dark  Chambers"  which  was  released  by  Vomit  Bucket  Productions  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Huldenuefni  a  solo  project  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  a   mixture  of  blackened  ambient  and  drone  on  this  recording

  His  side  of t he  split starts  out  with  a  few  seconds  of  silence  before  adding  in  the  sounds  of  thunder  as  well  as  some  field  recordings  and  the  music  also  brings  in a  great  amount of  harsh  drones  while  both  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length and  the  second  track  brings in  ambient  soundscapes  along  with  some  slow  yet  atmospheric  guitar  riffing  which  is  also  very  heavily  influenced  by  black  metal  and  both  of  the  tracks  are  instrumental  while  the  production  does  sound  very  dark  and  raw.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from Huldefni  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  black  metal,  ambient  and  drone  you  should  check  out  his  side  of t he  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "The Past  Is  Not  Forgotten,  He  Comes  To  Haunt  You".

  Next up is  Atraxy  a  solo  project  that  plays  a  very  harsh  form  of  noise.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  harsh  noises  along  with  some  power  electronics  and  his  song  is  almost  30 minutes  in  length  and  the  song  also  incorporates  power  electronics  and  field  recordings  as  well  as  being  all  instrumental  while  also having its  brutal  moments  and  the  production  is  very  dark  and  raw.

  In  my  opinion  Ataraxy  are  a  very  great  sounding  harsh  noise  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the split.

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  noise,  drone,  dark  ambient  and  black  metal.  8  out  of  10.

Hulduefni Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about your musical project?
1- Hello and thank you for this enterview. For those who do not know me, I'm João Simões and Hulduefni is my music project. About Hulduefni... as it says on my blog in the biography part: "It started in November 2011 when a friend of mine showed me the soundtrack of the game "Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines". I really liked the album, and I was extremely interested in the music.
Only in December 2011 is that after further investigate these music styles darker, minimal and sometimes repetitive, like Dark Ambient, Drone, etc., is that I (João Simões) decided to try writing an inspirational tracks on several songs I had heard so far. Using only an electric guitar and sometimes a bass.
The tracks started to get more and more interesting, until I decided to start to pay more attention in the production of each of them.
From December to early February, was to create and produce several songs until February decided it was time to join the best songs he had done, to the point, an album / demo.
Throughout the month of February was preparing the album, but without much certainty if the launch was for the public, or if would do just for me.
But after showing the songs to several people, almost all, if not all the same, they encouraged me to release the album. So I did so ...
In March 2012 I launched my first album titled Deep Darkness, limited to 20 copies. Which also had the participation of two friends.
The reception was very good, which made me immediately start thinking about the creation of new music."

2.How would you describe the musical sound that has been presented on the recordings so far?
2-Well the sound is generally speaking a mix "between dark ambient, drone and experimental, with a touch of psychadelic.", as it says on my blog, but I already record music that is close to black metal and to noise, so it's a mix of strange music genres and styles...

3.What are some of the themes and images you bring out with your musical style?
3-It really depends on what album you are asking, because now with more than 30 records out, it really depends... I like to do themed albums. So some albuns can bring to your mind the image of space in a "good" way (like for relaxing) or an image of space in a "bad" way like the movie Alien or something haha. Or it can be very industrial like in the album "Synthetic Works", where you can only imagine and grey industrial city... Very different themes and landscapes like you see from these examples from album to album...

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Hulduefni'?
4-This question is also answered on my blog, but I will told you here: "after searching and looking, and thinking for long hours ...
I found this name "Hulduefni", which means DARK MATTER in Icelandic, now and why the dark matter and why name in Icelandic ...
Dark Matter is tied to space, mystery and at the same time the word "black", has to do with my music ...
Icelandic because I wanted a weird name, confusing and even difficult to pronounce, so to speak, but at the same time not too exaggerated.
Even the Icelanders themselves consider their difficult language.
And for all these reasons, it is perfect."

5.On the albums you have had song titles that deal with occultism, aliens and horror, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in these topics?

5-Well about the occultism it comes from my love of black metal since way back... And horror topics too, like death metal bands and such. Before I knew what dark ambient was I was already an "metal head" so that's why. About aliens well it's obvious, space and terror mixed, and topics like the "end of the human race" of something like that that you normally see in the horror space movies, like the Alien or War of the worlds, here aliens enslave and try to kill humans... That's just some examples...

6.On the albums you record everything by yourself, are you open to working with other musicians or do you prefer to remain solo?
6-Haha, in fact I worked with, not a lot, but some musicians in my albuns... In Deep Darkness for example, I have 2 tracks that were recorded with some friends where at my house, and in another example, like the split "Life (When Nightmares Become Reality)" I have 2 tracks that were played by both artists, and there are some more examples... When I have some friends over my house and we start jamming, sometimes those recordings end up in albums, some times don't. I just reminded another one, the track "Depressive Spring" from the album Journeys Of The Mind, the guitar was played by a friend of mine that lives across the street and the drums were played by me, and then the mixing and production is always made by myself, that is the only thing that I do not want anybody to do but myself, you know it's that "final" touch of the finalisation of the tracks.

7.Over the years you have been a part of a few splits, can you tell us a little bit more about the artists you have shared split's with?
7- Well, frankly it's no special formulla... I just see who are the artists that are usually active in the dark ambient scene and the ones who care about music and love music like I do and contact them and try to work with them... And until today almost all have been very open to splits and to work in colabs and stuff. Great people I have to tell you :)

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of experimental and dark ambient?
8-This is a great and contorvercial question in my opinion. Well, one great artist that guide me through the scene and how "dark ambient works" that is the artist "Merankorii", he is also portuguese, told me that the dark ambient and experimental music takes time to settle down, people need time to listen carefully, to grow the love for the music as the artist grows itself, and it's very true. I the begining I thought that because I was releasing a lot of stuff and dedicating myself like 200% to this that I could like getting a music contract or something and that I could get into "big business" with this, but well with time I saw that it takes time... It's not like from night to day... And with time I think that my "fan base" is growing and that a lot of new people is discovering and liking my music, and that feels great! :D But yes, I still dream of one day do music for a major video game or a movie or something, that would be awesome!!

9.Are you also involved with any other musical projects?
9-Yes, I'm involved in LostsoL my black metal band, that is running a bit slow now... I'm also running my own label Dark Matter Records and my new adventure is hip-hop and beats, with my crazy/funny artist name Crazy John, John because of my name João, that is John in english. It's a totally different world the beats and hip-hop instrumentals, but it's also great to be able to work with new people from a totally different music background.

10.Where do you see yourself heading into as a musician in the future?
10-Well, I really do not know, but like I told you in the question 8, I would like to start making music for movies and games, and to be able to be "more" than just some tracks on some CD and to "bring to light", bigger stuff like, when working with image (movies or games for example) you can feel the music and see it also in the face of caracters in games or actors in movies, you know what I'm saying right?

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
11-Like I told you on question 5, the music styles that influence me is black metal and metal in general, a lot of OST of games and movies and the list goes on and on... But if you want names, I can give you names... Burzum, Xasthur, Darkthone, Mayhem, etc... About games, it is with no doubt the OST of "Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines", and also a band that I would like to guive a especial thank YOU for existing is Darkspace ! This one is wow... I don't have any words to discribe this, only one MASTERPICE!
And about the question what I'm listening these days... Well nowadays I listen to anything, I mean it! From black metal to clasical to hip-hop, I listen to it haha. (But right now I have been listening to a lot of old school punk! UK PUNK! Like Chaos UK for example)


12.What are some of your non musical interests?
12-Haha interesting question, well right now because of college unfortunatly I do not have much free time :/ and the only free time that I get I try to relax a bit, go out with friends, sometimes do a music jam, and when I can, I like to go to the country side to relax away from the stress of the city and just to breathe some freash air :)

  Ambient  sounds  start  off  the  album  and  guitars  can  also  be  heard  quite a  bit  throughout  the  recording  and  they  also  bring  in  a  lot  of  melodies  and  leads  and  nature  sounds  can  also  be  heard at  times  and  a  lot  of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  as the  album  progresses  elements  of  noise  are  added   into  the  music.

  All  of  the  music  is  instrumental  and  the  music  can  also  be  very avant  garde  and  experimental  at  times  and  when  synths  are  added  onto  the  recording  they  give  the  music  more  of  a  haunting  feeling  along  with  some  programmed  beats  and  some  songs  also  bring  in  elements  of  electronic  music  and  the  music  also  brings  in  the  feeling  of  an  80's  Nintendo  or  Sega  game  at  times  while later  tracks  bring  in  more  drone  and  psychedelic  elements.

  On  this  recording   Hulduefni  plays  a  style  of  dark  ambient  that  is  very  diverse  with  some  songs  being  guitar  orientated  while  others  focus  more  on  electronic  sounds  and  you  can  also  hear  a  great  amount  of  drone  elements  throughout  the  recording  along  with  every  track  being  all  instrumental  and  the  production  sounds  very  dark.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Hulduefni  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  dark  ambient  and  drone,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Doom"  "The  Dracula's  Castle/Dracula's  Curse"  "Alien  Encounter"  and  "Losing  My  Mind".  8  out  of  10.

  This  is  a  review  of  a  double  4  way  split  between  Portugal's  Hulduefni,  U.S.A's  i  AM  esper,  Belarus's  Paleozoic  and  Russia's  Satanath  called  "Aliens  Vs.  Dinosaurs"  which  was  released  by Symbol  Of  Domination  Productions  and  we  will  start  off  the  review  with  Hulduefni  who  plays  a  mixture  of  dark  ambient,  drone,  experimental  and  psychedelia.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  ambient  sounds  and drones  along with some  distorted  parts  and melodic  guitar  leads  and  clean  playing  can  also  be  heard  at  times  and  after  awhile  a  small  amount  of  black  metal  screams  are  added  into  the  music  and  the  guitar  riffs  also  add  in  melodies  to  the  songs  when  they  are  utilized.

  Some of  the  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  the  music  also  gets  very  experimental  and  avant  garde  at  times  and  some  of  the  tracks  are  also  instrumental  and  there  are also  some  psychedelic  elements  being  utilized  at  times  and  all  4  of  his  tracks  sound  very  different  from  each  other,  the  production  sounds  very  dark  while  the  song  themes  focus  on  aliens  and science fiction.

  In  my  opinion  Hulduefni  is  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  dark  ambient,  drone,  experimental  and  psychedelia  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical genres,  you  should  check  out  this  solo  project.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Alien.  the  Beginning"  and  "Grays  Walking  Through  the  Hangar".

  Next  up  is  i  AM  esper  a  solo  project  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  blog  and  plays  a  mixture  of  drone,  dark  ambient  and  experimental.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  dark  ambient  style  synths  which  also give  the  music  an  atmospheric  feeling  and  the  music  also  brings  in  a  lot  of  experimental sounds  and  the  music  also  brings  in  post  rock  style  melodies  and  lo-fi  elements  along  with  most  of  the  tracks  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  all  of  the  music  is  instrumental  and  all  of  the  songs  sound  very  different  from  each  other  with  guitars  being  used  briefly  and  field  recordings  being  added  into  the  last  song  along  with  some  harsh  noises,  while  the  production  has  a  very  dark  sound to  it.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great sounding recording  from  i  AM  esper  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  dark  ambient,  drone  and  experimental,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED   TRACK  "Cosmic  Death  II'.

  Next  up  is  Paleozoic  a  solo  project  that  plays  a  mixture  of  dark  ambient  and  drone.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  atmospheric  sounding  drones  and  after  awhile  the  music  gets  more  distorted  along  with  some  guitar sounds  and  most  of  his songs  are  very long  and  epic  in  length  and  the  music  also  gets  more  diverse  with  each  track  along  with  all  of  the  music  being mostly  instrumental  while the  last  track  does  bring  in  a  small  amount  of  black  metal  screams  and  the  production  also  sounds  very  dark  and  heavy.

  In  my  opinion  Paleozoic  is  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  dark  ambient  and  drone  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  his  side  of  the  split.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Immobility,  Indifference  and  Toughness".

  Closing  the  split  is  Satanath  asolo  project  that  plays  dark  ambient.

  His  side  of  the  split  starts  out  with  drones  and  dark  ambient  sounds  along  with some  field recordings  and  the  music  can  also  get  very  experimental  and  avant  garde  at  times  bringing  in  a  variety  of many  different  sounds  and  the  music  also  adds  in  some  loops  and  power  electronics  in  certain  sections  of  the  recording  and  most  of  his  tracks  are  very  long  and  epic  in  length  and  there  is  also  tribal  elements  being  added  into  the  music  briefly  while  each  track  also  sounds  very  different  from  each  other  and  there  is  also  a  small  use  of  acoustic  guitars  for a  few  seconds  while  later  songs  also  mix  in  electronic  music  and  the  production  has  a  very  dark  sound  to  it.

  In  my  opinion  I  think t hat  Satanath  are  a  very  great  sounding  experimental  dark  ambient  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  his  songs.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Satnogor"  and  "Sotekius".

  In  conclusion  I  feel  this  is  a  very  great  sounding  split  and  I  would  recommend  it  to  all  fans  of  dark  ambient  and  drone.  8  out  of  10.
