Digital Negative are a duo from Virginia that plays a mixture of electronic, industrial and field recordings and this is a review of their self titled 2021 ep which was released by Hostile 1 Tapes.
Industrial style beats start off the ep while the music also brings in elements of underground electronic music. All of the drum beats are also programmed along with the music also mixing in some actual percussion at times and the vocals are also done in a very aggressive yet spoken industrial style.
Samples are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording while a later song also adds electric guitars into the music. Field recordings can also be heard briefly along with each track also sounding very different from each other and at time s early 2000;s pop songs are also sampled in a more mechanical style.
Digital negative plays a musical style that takes industrial, electronic music and field recordings and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very dark while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Digital Negative are a very great sounding mixture of lectronic, industrial and field recordings and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this duo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Strange loop" and "Tense motion". 8 out of 10.
