Nerthus are a solo project from Germany that plays a mixture of drone, ambient and post industrial and this is a review of his 2025 album "Love Letters vie Echelon" which was released by Eighth Tower Records.
Ambient style drones start off the album while the music also adds in a great amount of samples and electronic music sounds. When programmed beats are utilized they also add in touches of post industrial along with a great portion of the tracks also being very long and epic in length.
All of the songs also sound very different from each other while most of the music sticks to an instrumental direction. A lot of the music also captures an improvised atmosphere along with some synths also being utilized quite a bit throughout the album and the songs also add in a lot of radio frequency sounds.
Nerthus plays a musical style that takes ambient, drone and post industrial and mixes them together to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very dark while the song themes focus on global surveillance.
In my opinion Nerthus is a very great sounding mixture of drone, ambient and post industrial and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE ?Sugar Grove" "Menwith Hill" "Gcsp Tangimoana: and :GCSP Waihopai". 8 out of 10.
