This is a review of a split album between long time extreme metal veterans Iggor Calvers and Shane Embury which shows the music going for a different musical direction which you would not expect from these musicians and the album will be released in march by Cold Spring Records and is called "Neon Gods/Own Your Darkness" and we will start off the review with Iggot Calveria with a track which shows the music going for a mixture of death industrial, drone and harsh noise.
His side of the split starts out with some apocalyptic sounding drones while his track is also over 19 minutes in length. The track also adds in a lot of electronic sounds which also evolve more into harsh noises as the recording progresses as well as the vocalization also adding in elements of death industrial, spoken words can also be heard briefly while the production sounds very dark and lo-fi.
In my opinion Iggor Calvera brings out a great mixture of death industrial, drone and harsh noise and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out his side of the split.
Next up is Shane Embury who goes into more of a dark ambient direction.
His side of the split starts out with dark sounding drones while his track is also over 13 minutes in length. When synths are utilized they also bring in elements of ambient along with all of the music also sticking to an instrumental direction while the production sounds very dark and lo-fi.
In my opinion Shane Embury brings out a great mixture of dark ambient and drone and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out his side of the split.
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and i would recommend it to all fans of harsh noise, experimental, death industrial, dark ambient and drone. 8 out of 10.
