This is a review of a recording from Sweden's solo project Desiderii Marginis which showed the music going for a mixture of dark ambient and death industrial and the album was released in 2023 by Cyclic law and called "Serenity/Rage".
Spoken word parts and dark ambient soundscapes start off the album before introducing synths into the music. Programmed beats are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording while one of the songs is also a Brighter Death now cover which also introduces elements of death industrial onto the recording.
Some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length while each song also sounds very different from each other. At times the music also brings in the atmosphere of a horrible nightmare or a horror movie soundtrack along with one song also introducing power electronics onto the album
On this recording Desiderii Marginis takes dark ambient and the more clam side of death industrial and mixes them together to create a very diverse recording. The production sounds very dark while the song themes focus on the contradictory human capacity to do both good and evil.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Desiderii Marginis and if you are a f an of dark ambient and death industrial, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "I Was Destroying Icons" and "The Hours of Darkness". 8 out of 10.
