Shredding Velvet is a solo project form Mississippi that plays a musical style that mixes harsh noise and drone together with a musical style he refers to as being 'harsh wilderness drone' and this is a review of his 2023 album "The Bloody Rite" which was released by Syrup Moose Records.
Harsh sounding noises and drones start off the album while the power electronics are also very distorted sounding. Some of the songs also bring in the brutality of HNW along with most of the music also being instrumental and also capturing a very lo-fi atmosphere at times, all of the tracks also sound very different from each other. and as the recording progresses aggressive screams are also introduced briefly.
Shredded Velvet plays a musical style that takes harsh noise and drone and mixes it with a touch of HNW to create a sound of his own while the production also sounds very dark.
In my opinion Shredding Velvet is a very great sounding mixture of harsh noise and drone and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Head On The Wall" and "Shot Placement". 8 out of 10.
