Pantheist are a band originally from Belgium but now resides in the United Kingdom and plays a progressive form of funeral doom/death metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Seeking Infinity" which will be released in September by Melancholic Realm Productions.
A very dark and atmospheric sounding intro starts off the album along with a brief use of spoken word parts while also bringing in synths which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the music as well as the slower sections of the songs also bringing in a great amount of funeral doom metal elements.
At times the music gets very progressive while the vocals are mostly death metal growls along with a few screams that add in a touch of black metal and when the music speeds up a small amount of blast beats can also be heard as well as some clean vocals also being added into certain sections of the recording, most of the tracks are very long and epic in length.and whispers are also added into some parts of the music and when guitar leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic style and one of the tracks also introduces acoustic guitars onto the recording.
Pantheist plays a musical style that is very heavily rooted in funeral doom/death metal while also taking the sound into more of a progressive direction, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover introspection, spirituality and exploration themes.
In my opinion Pantheist are a very great sounding progressive funeral doom/death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Control And Fire'' and "Emergence". 8 out of 10.
