Adversvm are a band from Germany that plays a very morbid form of funeral doom metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Aion Sitra Ahra" which will be released in May by Iron Bonehead Productions.
Atmospheric drones along with some Gregorian chants start off the album before going into a heavier funeral doom metal direction while the vocals a re mostly deep death metal growls along with the music also using a decent amount of dark yet distorted sounding melodies and most of the tracks are very long and epic in length.
Atmospheric sounding keyboards can also be heard in the background while the guitar leads are done in a very dark and melodic fashion along with some whispers also being used briefly and at times the music also brings in a touch of black metal as well as some clean guitars being added into certain sections of the recording, rain and thunder sounds can also be heard briefly and all of the music sticks to a slow direction and when spoken word parts are utilized they give the music more of a ritualistic feeling and they close the album with an experimental noise tracks.
Adversvm plays a style of funeral doom metal that is very slow, dark, morbid and ritualistic sounding, the production sounds very dark while the lyrics cover Occultism, Gnosis, Left Hand Path and Apocalyptic themes.
In my opinion Adversvm are a very great sounding morbid funeral doom metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Anti Steller Gnosis To The Acausa" and "Aion Sitra Ahra". 8 out of 10.
