Hezaliel are a solo project from Belgium and is also the dark ambient side of Steve Fabry better known for his work in the black metal bands Sercati and The Nightstalker and this is a review of his 2018 album "Paradise Lost" which was released by Eight Tower Records.
Sci-fi orientated drones start off the album along with some avant garde soundscapes while the music also brings in a great amount of epic and dark ambient style synths as well as most of the tracks being instrumental and the music also gets very ritualistic and occult sounding in some parts of the songs.
Most of the tracks are very long and epic in length while all of the songs sound very different from each other along with the music also getting very experimental at times and at times the music gets very atmospheric and cinematic as well as capturing a soundtrack orientated atmosphere and female vocals are also added onto the closing track.
Hezaliel plays a style of dark ambient that is very experimental at times as well as evoking a sci-fi atmosphere which makes the music a little bit different than most musicians of this genre, the production sounds very dark while the song themes are inspired by John Milton's "Paradise Lost".
In my opinion Hezaliel is a very great sounding dark ambient solo artist and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Altar Of Demons" "The Snake's Deception" and "Paradise Lost". 8 out of 10.
