This is a review of a split album between Ireland's Ruani O' Baoighll and France's Sona Nyl called "Decay" which will be released on April 30th by Cursed Monk Records and we will start off the review with Ruani O' Baoghll who returns with his mixture of ritual, dark ambient and drone.
His side of the split starts out with bells along with some atmospheric sounding drones being added onto the recording a few seconds later while all of the tracks are instrumental and when synths are utilized they bring in elements of dark ambient, field recordings are also added onto the closing track and the production sounds very dark.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Ruani O' Baoghll and if you are a fan of dark ambient and drone, you should check out his side of t he split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Preternatural Trance".
Next up is Sona Nyl a solo artist that plays a very dark and emotional form of electronic music.
His side of t he split starts out with some field recordings along with some atmospheric soundscapes a few seconds later and after awhile drones and elements of electronic music are added into his side of the recording along with the synths also giving the music more of a soundtrack feeling, electric guitars and programmed can also be heard briefly as well as both of the tracks being very long and epic in length and the production sounds very dark.
In my opinion Sona Myl is a very great sounding dark and emotional electronic music solo artist and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out his side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Back in Grace".
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of dark ambient, drone and electronic music. 8 out of 10.
