This is a review of a collaboration album between Germany's Visions and Russia's Phurpa called "Monads" which mixes dark ambient and drone with Tibetan, shamanistic and ritual music and the album will be released on April 25, 2018 by Cyclic Law.
Ritualistic throat singing starts off the album along with some atmospheric soundscapes while drones can also be heard quite a bit throughout the recording along with the music also bringing in Tibetan style musical instruments which also gives the songs more of an ethnic feeling.
At times the music gets very experimental while the music also brings in a great amount of dark ambient elements along with a decent amount of synths and all of the tracks are very long and epic in length as well as sounding very different from each other and also taking the listener on a shamanic journey and percussion's can also be heard in certain sections of the recording.
Visions and Phurpa team up and mix their 2 different styles together to create a very ritualistic and shamanistic orientated form of dark/ambient drone and the production sounds very dark.
In my opinion this is a very great sounding collaboration from Visions and Phurpa and if you are a fan of dark ambient, drone and ritual music, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Ascendance" and "Reminiscence". 8 out of 10.
